Summer 2006 - Construction Mission Trip to
Havelock Community Missionary Baptist Church
Friday, June 16, 2006
Construction
Progress, Recognition Dinner, and Group Picture Photo Album for
Friday, June 16.
The
Construction Team from College Street completed their work
at about 10:00 PM on Friday, June 16 and returned home on
Saturday. On Sunday both the Construction and Youth teams
shared their experiences during both morning services at
College Street.
The church family at Havelock will continue
work on their new sanctuary in preparation for the early
July arrival of the North American Mission Board's Brick
Laying Team.
Sarah and Dan
Farmer, from
Southwestern Baptist Church
in Johnson City, Tennessee, coordinate this
team.
Our team
members greatly appreciate the wonderful folks from the
Havelock Church, and the Friday night meal provided a time
of thanksgiving and presentations. Havelock's associate
pastor Keith Burke presented College Street with a beautiful
"double eagle" statue, which he said represents the "double
portion" we gave their church. The women of the church also
presented our ladies with beautiful gifts.
We send our
thanks to the church family at Havelock for
giving us "double portions" of love, fellowship, friendship,
hospitality, excellent meals, and the loan of their vans. We
have come to love every one of you! We all hope to return for the
dedication of your new sanctuary!
Our thanks
are also extended to the wonderful church family of
New
Bern First Baptist Church for providing us with
accommodations and for their outstanding hospitality during
the construction team's stay.
Mission Teams Update:
Thursday, June 15, 2006
Construction Progress Photo Album for
Thursday, June 15.
This was
"Truss day" for the Havelock Sanctuary building team. Good
weather allowed us to install over half of the truss system.
We also began sheeting the roof. We hope to complete our
work here by late Friday afternoon or early Saturday. After
we leave, the Havelock church will continue construction and
also begin to prepare for the arrival of the
Baptist
Bricklaying Team.
Our Youth
will leave tomorrow (Friday morning) and are expected to
return home as previously scheduled. They have many exciting
stories to tell from their Vacation Bible School and musical
presentations.
Mission Teams Update:
Wednesday, June 14, 2006
Construction Progress Photo Album for
Wednesday, June 14.
Our
construction team and the wonderful folks from the Havelock
church spent quite a few hours today dodging Tropical Storm
Alberto's rain and winds. The rain stopped in late
afternoon, but gusty winds continued for some time. We were
unable to set the trusses due to the bad weather, but
improvements by afternoon allowed us time to straighten
walls and nail up some of the sheathing. The crane is
scheduled to arrive by 9:00 AM Thursday morning and we will
then begin the roof.
Our youth
continued work with Vacation Bible School and also gave
another wonderful presentation of the 2-DIE-4 musical
drama in Morehead City.
Continue to
pray for our teams as we complete our work and journey home!
Our youth should make the return trip on Friday and the
construction team hopes to return later this weekend.

This is
another brief update since the construction team was able to
work until almost dark today on the Havelock Community
Missionary Baptist Church. The rains held off and we were
able to erect most of the wall framework. We are scheduled
to set the roof trusses Wednesday, but this may be postponed
since the forecast calls for the possibility of rain for
most of the day.
Our
gratitude is extended to the wonderful folks here at the
Havelock Church! The food is fantastic and their hospitality
is wonderful! Thank you for providing our youth group with
two vans until our bus it repaired.
Our Youth
Missions Team visited the the Havelock church briefly today and
brought us good news of their very successful Vacation Bible
School efforts in Morehead City. They are looking forward to another
presentation of musical/drama 2-DIE-4 tomorrow night.

Brief Mission Teams Update:
Monday, June 12, 2006
The
Construction team began work on the Havelock Community
Missionary Baptist Church addition this morning and was able
to work for more than 8 hours before a late afternoon rain
storm. If the weather holds, we hope to have the walls
framed, erected and ready for trusses by tomorrow night. The
forecast for Tropical Storm Alberto calls for remnants to
pass near us late Wednesday, which may delay our efforts.
Our youth
mission team in Morehead City found it necessary to cancel
tonight's scheduled drama/musical presentation due to
weather and a break-down of our new bus. Repairs on the bus
are under warranty and will begin tomorrow. Until the
repairs are completed, the Havelock Church has graciously
donated their two 15 passenger vans to our group.
Hopefully
we will have another update tomorrow night, with pictures.
Pray for our teams as we continue our work throughout the
week!
Missions Update:
Sunday, June 11, 2006
Our Youth Mission Team
presented the musical/drama 2-DIE-4 to Victory

morning Vacation Bible School.
Most of our construction crew arrived at Havelock to begin
framing in the Sanctuary of the Havelock Community Missionary Baptist
Church beginning Monday morning. Our thanks to New Bern
First Baptist Church for accommodations and wonderful
hospitality during the construction team's stay.
Construction materials are in place.

What a wonderful success
our Ministry Missions Auction was on Saturday,
June 3rd!! Through this one event, we were able to raise
$4,484.44 after expenses. Thank you, church family and
friends, for your efforts in preparation for both the hot
dog supper as well as the auction items which you so
generously contributed. Be assured that this money will be
used exclusively for our CSBC Missions Ministry. May God
bless you richly for
each effort in making this such a success!
